Atra Hora – Via Combusta review (Pyatigorsk, Russia)

Atra Hora

“Via Combusta”

Pyatigorsk, Russia

Listening to this record automatically brought me back to the mid 90’s when
the “Death is just the begning” compilation series was still cool. They
always featured lots of death metal bands, each one unique on their style.

I think being from Russia makes things a little easier for those guys to
incorporate foreign (to me) elements into their music. The percussion work
on the first song “Transfiguration” is pretty nice and I would love to see
how that would work live.

My other favorite tracks are obviously the ones with more eastern influence
as in “Στύξ” and “Εντροπία”. The other songs are quite long in a more epic
death metal line.
