Review: XAVIER IN THE DOGHOUSE – “Swallowing Shadows” (Pennsylvania, USA)

I don’t remember how I stumbled upon this record on bandcamp, but I’m glad I did it.

The self-inflicted label “Apocalypitic Bluegrass” is the best description one could give to this american trio.

I remember several years ago when Current 93 was labeled Apocalypitc Folk. It was a good name as well. I think this could be a true american anwser to the english genre.

It’s a live recording, but it sound pretty good overall.

The second song “People as Birds” is the heaviest one when they can get almost “metal”, but in general in all the four songs you can picture an steamed punk guy in an post-apocalyptic scenario playing his banjo, while there’s a horde of zombies eating his old friend, which happened to be the only other live person in that world.

Thumbs up for this Doomed Hillbillies!
